Black people worldwide want to hear about your most provocative auto dealership car buying experience. Was it good or bad?
If you have witnessed unfair treatment of a "person of color" at a dealership ,(without naming names) , would you be willing to share your observations?
How did the "Dealership Staff" make you (or someone you know) feel ? For example, Did you ever feel like you were being treated differently than "White" consumers?
Did you think they got a "Fair Deal"? What is your definition of a "Fair Deal"?
During negotiations did you feel like you were being "Patronized"?
Do you believe some people are natural negotiators or do you believe "Negotiating " a learned "Life Skill" ?
Would it surprise you to know that conclusive studies show most black families are charged more than whites by some unscrupulous car dealers?
Judging from the many emails I've received on this subject I hope that if you agree to share your posts it will encourage others to share their experiences also.
Otherwise my role as a "Black Consumer Advocate" with an emphasis on breaking financial strongholds on black family car buying finances through personal "Coaching" will fall prey to what I call the "Epidemic-Know-It-All" syndrome. This group of people are targeted by dealer advertising that compels them to believe that they don't need any help negotiating with their "Friendly" dealer.
I know from my professional experience selling cars that I've heard some of our people use some "Country", "Ham-Fisted", ineffective, negotiation strategies that make you know why many dealers nationwide continue laughing at our people all the way to the bank!
God has blessed my family beyond description so I want all to know that I'm not trying to make money (on sharing my "Insider Knowledge") but I am trying to make a difference.
My satisfaction comes from knowing that by reaching out to others God is using this ministry to help many black families save thousands through information sharing using the spiritual gifts God has imparted to me.
God bless you and may this be the first day of the best days of your life! Also if you want to stay informed about our latest, money-saving information please go to www.ChristianCarBuying.org for your FREE informational, money-saving, newsletter.

Thanks Dr. S. Maxwell Hines for sharing your tips on car buying. I knew our readers would love hearing from a "born negotiator" like you! Unfortunately most of the people who contact me for negotiating advice don't possess your natural talent so they can learn from your perspective.
Kudos to you both for being exemplary role models. You and your husband epitomize the essence of what I call a great "Negotiating Team". Your due diligence regarding product research coupled with your above average understanding of the correlation between depreciating assets and term financing is commendable. From my experience I can tell you that an "Unscrupulous Car Dealer" would view someone with your "Negotiating Skills" as their "Worst Nightmare".
Given most car dealers track record of exploiting "Inexpert Negotiators", as a consumer, being labeled their "Worst Nightmare" is the highest compliment a dealer can give a savvy consumer. It short your stellar "Business Protocol" would announce to the dealer that , "She's not the one..." thereby commanding their respect. Needless to say they would definitely be scared of you!
Furthermore any dealer would be wise to take your husbands advice and give you the best deal possible so they could get you out of their showroom ASAP! :-)
I would like to reemphasize your point about , " What we Black folks have to learn is that you must keep your credit impeccable and not live outside your means. It puts you in a strong negotiating position."
We always advise clients to learn their FICO score and get "Pre-Approved" before they engage a dealer. This takes the inevitable salesmans question, "So, how much do you want to pay per month.. out of the conversation!" More importantly it allows you to control the thing that is trying to control you---lack of knowledge. Knowledge is POWER !
Thank you again Dr. S. Maxwell Hines for sharing negotiating tips from your car buying experience! Many will benefit from your wisdom.
To show you I'm taking your advice if anyone has a comment here's the link to my blog: http://christiancarbuying.blogspot.com/
God bless you and may this be the first day of the best days of your life!

Hi Bruce, I would be happy to do anything I can to help. As a native New Yorker, I am a born negotiator and I negotiate nearly everything. For my last car purchase, I negotiated a 1% financing deal and I generally never finance anything over 6%. The car dealer didn't know what hit him (those were his words). Near the end of the negotiation, my husband took the dealer aside and told him that he would save a lot of time if he would just give me what I wanted because it would make everyone happier in the long run, lol. I think preparedness is the key. Research the car you want, the dealerships you wish to work with and how much each option you want on the car costs the dealership, otherwise, you will be taken! What we Black folks have to learn is that you must keep your credit impeccable and not live outside your means. It puts you in a strong negotiating position. My husband is getting ready to buy a new car and he has tapped me to negotiate his deal and he is a mathematician, lol.
